Many thanks to the towns of Bethlehem and Franconia for this opportunity to speak directly to the voter. My name is Kelley Monahan and I have served the people of Grafton County for 14 years as your register of deeds. I am 64 years old with and extensive background in business and volunteer work on my town planning board, enriching my experience with countless trainings over my years of service and prior to my years of service. I also have a great deal of experience with the business of owning real property in the state of New Hampshire. After I was confident with the upbringing of my 3 sons, I wanted to spend the rest of my working career making a real difference for people.
That is what my team and I joyfully do every single day; help.
We listen, we empathize, we empower and we redirect. Our world is becoming more complex by the day; we help people navigate through the maze to find their answers.
The NH Registers of Deeds wear many hats and our roles still remain a mystery for most people. We are CEO, CIO, CFO Cybersecurity experts, historians, archivists, planning experts and elected officials.
The CGRC collects and redistributes approx. 17 million dollars per year and records on average 16,000 documents annually to the official public record. We have never had any adverse findings from DRA auditors or G.C. Independent auditors.
I have guided this office through the implementation of computerized banking, e-recording, electronic signature legislation and led the state with transition to our modern and secure recording and search programs. In partnership with our excellent land records management software vendor, we offer a free and secure property fraud alert system. I have brochures with me.
I have served as Secretary, Vice President and President of the NHRD Association, and am currently the second longest serving in office. I currently served as liaison to NH Planning and liaison to NHLSA. I have been a speaker at NHLSA for their past two annual meetings.
I also serve on our legislative Committee.
Grafton County is currently in a development boom, which I predicted, and we are ready. I have agreed to commit the next two years of my life to this position to ensure a smooth a path forward for the citizens and property owners of Grafton County.
For the past two terms, I have concentrated on three major ARPA funded projects which have enhanced the data base and offered greater access and protection of the records. On October 9, 2024 from 7 am until 6 PM I will be hosting an open house to showcase our progress on our vault redesign and renovation and to view our historic plan restoration project which is nearing completion. I welcome all of you and I have flyers with me, information also available at our official website at NHdeeds.org.
This is a challenging position, and every challenge has left me stronger, smarter and more resolute.
Thank you for your time and I would appreciate the confidence of your vote on November 5, 2024.
